That's your opinion Here's Mine

All in the Timing

Playing at the Primary Stages located at 59 East 59th street. The play runs one hour and forty five minutes with one intermission. It will close on March 17, 2013.

The play is made up of an accumulation of six one- act plays by David Ives. They were written from 1987-1993. All in the Timing was first published in 1994. They have been updated to fourteen.

In this production they do the six original plays.

John Rande is the director. He won a Tony and Outer Circle Critic’s Awards in 2002 for “Urinetown”.

The set was designed by Beowulf Boritt. He was nominated for a Tony Award in 2011 for “The Scottsboro Boys”.

There are three plays in each act and all of them are comedies.

Six clocks appear on the wall center stage. One of the clocks appears in each play. The walls change colors with each play. There are three doors on either side of the stage. Cast members bring out the furniture and props and take them off when there done.

I won't give anything away about the stories, just to say they are funny. OK I'll tell you one of my favorite’s was “Sure Thing” played by Carson Elrod and Liv Rooth. It’s about a couple who meet in a cafe. They keep resetting how they introduce themselves until they finally click as a couple.

The other five plays are “Words, Words, Words”, “The Universal Language”, Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread”, “The Philadelphia” and “Variations on the Death of Trotsky”.

The cast is excellent. Jenn Harris loves doing comedies and it shows. She is good. Carson Elrod and Matthew Salivar have fantastic facial and body expressions that add to the show.

This is a laughable show. There is just enough humor in each play that you don’t get bored. Give it a try you might fine more than one play to like.
