The lights are dim, we hear Bella (Mary Louise Parker) saying something. As the lights get brighter, we see and hear what she is saying. She tells us about herself. Bella is a professor in an Ivy League University. In her office she is talking to one of her students Christopher (Will Hochman). Bella talks about authors, quoting them. Christopher tells her he came to tell her how much he loved her class.
As times goes by, they become intimate.
When she finds out she has cancer and the prognosis is not good she goes on the internet to find out ways to kill herself. She finds something and gets it. Bella asks Christopher to help her kill herself. There are three shots she has to take. He gives her the first shot. When she wakes up seventeen hours later Christopher is gone and she’s still alive.
We find out Christopher killed himself and thru treatment her cancer is in remission.
The play is performed between the two characters and from time to time the character comes to the front of the stage and tells the audience what is happening.
One point I like the way it was presented but then there were times when it distracted me.
The cast was outstanding.
I usually don’t give stars but I would give 2 ½ for this play out of 4.
