That's your opinion Here's Mine

Fabulous!

Fabulous! The Queen of New Musical Comedies is playing at the Times Square Arts Center located at 300 West 43rd Street. The musical runs two hours fifteen minutes with one intermission. It is an open ended run.

The musical takes place in the last days of Broadway Golden Age.

Laura Lee Handle (Nick Morrett) and Jane Mann (Josh Kenney) are female impersonators. They are late getting to the show they are in, screwing up the routine. The four other girls on stage are also female impersonators. Another grand dame comes to see the show; she is shot and taken away. Laura grabs her diamond necklace that fell on the floor, when they took the grand dame away. They are fired. They have no money, job or a place to live. However Laura gets a telegram from her agent that they have a job as girls on a cruise ship making its last voyage.

Sir Alfred (Cameron Lucas) owns the ship. He talks to his dead mother. Sir Alfred also worries about his cats feelings, running off to check on him.

On the ship is a famous actor Rock Henderson (Adam Kemmerer). Rock falls for Jane male and female.

Add to cast are brother “Hell’s Kitchen” Harry Babcock ( (Ty Person) and his sister Betty ”Bazookas” Babcock (Natalie DePuy). They are gangsters looking for the diamond necklace.

They are other members on the ship that add to the confusion.

This is a fun show. There plot twist in the second act to add to the enjoyment. But there are scenes that could be left out, they don’t add to the show. It would to give it a more polished look. I just wonder if those scenes were there to let the actors change costumes.

Adam Kemmerer and Josh Kenney have nice singing voices.
