He was nominated for four Tony awards for Evita (2012), LoveMusik (2007), Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2006) and The Who’s Tommy (1993). Alison (Beth Malone) is an illustrator. She is writing a book about her relationship with her father.

The story revolves on different events in her (Gabriella Pizzolo) life including her dad Bruce (Michael Cerveris), mom Helen (Judy Kuhn), and brothers John (Zell Steele Morrow) and Christian ( Oscar Williams) .

Bruce is an English teacher. He also works in his family’s funeral home. One of his hobbies is restoring old homes. Helen is a teacher and playwright.

Her father had his moods but she thought nothing of it.

When she went off to collage she would write home to her dad. One of her letters she told her parents she realized she was gay. She had never been comfortable in girl’s clothes. When she did not hear from her parents she decides to go home and confront them. Her friend Joan (Roberta Colindrez) comes along. Her father was ok with her being gay but not her mother. It seems her father was gay. Her mother said she was surprised he was never arrested since some were minors. He was arrested for giving beer to a minor (Jose Perez). The deal was he sees a psychologist.

This is a well done musical. Go see the show to find out the events and things that happened to her. I don’t want to spoil it for you.

The show has a different feeling than the show that was at the Public Theatre. This production is more intimate and may be because the theatre is in the round. Props and furniture come and go under the floor.

Michael Cerveris is amazing as the tormented man living two lives.

Garbiella Pizzolo does a great job as young Allison.
