Journey into Light and Shadow

Journey into Light and Shadow is playing at the Gene Frankel Theatre located at 24 Bond Street. It runs ninety minutes with one intermission. The play closes on April 1, 2017.

It was written by Danish playwright Stig Dalager.

The time is the past, present and future.

Marion (Carol Carter) is asleep in a chair. Her daughter Suzanne (Lauren Smith) comes to check on her mother. She lives a few blocks away. Marion is not well her hands shake and she can barely walk. Suzanna questions her mother about her father and other things.

Peter, Marion deceased husband and Jacob, Suzanne former boyfriend (both played by Fergus Scully) come in and out of the act.

Near the end of the first act the person we thought was a character say let’s take a break. When we come back we’ll decide what we will do with your characters.

It makes the audience wonder what just happened.

Act two is a play in rehearsal. Act three we wonder if the characters in the play or real people are the ones dead.

This is a play in a play.

The second act is the strongest. Although the characters in act one are more interesting and it makes you wonder if they are based on real people.

The cast does a great job.

If you like a play that makes you think you will like this play.
