Marty's Shadow

Marty’s Shadow is playing at the Gene Frankel Theatre located at 24 Bond Street. It runs two hours and thirty minutes with two intermissions. The play closes on April 1, 2017.

The play is written by Swedish playwright Stig Dagerman.

Act One takes place post WWII in Paris, Act Two A few days later and Act Three A couple of weeks later.

Madame Angelia (Jackie Maruschak) is talking to her son Gabriel (Jimi Stanton) about his brother Marty. He is dead. Marty was a war hero in the French Resistance. According to his mother Mary could do no wrong, he was perfect.

In the room is Therese (Ivette Dumeng). When Madame Angelica asks her something she always tells her she is right.

As the play goes on she is constantly praising Marty and being so negative about Gabriel. Her remarks get more brutal.

When Therese leaves Gabriel follows her home. It seems he has done it many times but just watched her windows. He loves her but his brother was her lover. She leads him to believe they have a chance to be a couple.

Madame Angelica brings home Victor (James Mc Kinney).

Therese falls for Victor.

Gabriel becomes unhinged. Well the rest you will have to see this show to find out what happens.

This is one of the best off off Broadway shows I have seen in a while. I was swept away!

The actors do a brilliant job. Jimi Stanton was incredible. He was so in character that he made you feel he was Gabriel. Jackie Maruschak is the mother from hell. She was so good. I wanted to go on stage and smack her face.

The set was great.

This is a show that should not be missed. Or maybe you’ll catch it off Broadway. It deserves to be there.
