That's your opinion Here's Mine

Trip Of Love

Trip of Love is playing at Stage 42 located at 422 West 42nd Street. It runs two hours with one intermission. The musical is an open ended run.

The musical premiered in Osaka, Japan in 2008.

Gregg Barnes is the costume designer. He won a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for Follies (2012) and the Drowsy Chaperon (2006). Gregg was nominated for a Tony Award for Something Rotten (2015), Kinky Boots (2013), Legally Blonde (2007), Flower Drum Song (2003).

Robin Wager is the scenic designer. He won a Tony Award for The Producers in 2001.

The feeling you get as you walk into the theatre is a flower child era. All the walls have wild flowers on them.

Twenty six songs from the sixties are played. Among the songs are “California Dreamer”, “I Saw her Standing There”, “You Don’t Own Me”, and “White Rabbit”.

Each scene has to do with the song. Costumes reflect the time.

There is no set story but it is still great. The way the songs are presented, it seems as if it is a short story.

The costumes and set were great.

There were men with no shirts and one woman without a top on. Well she did have body paint.

Dionne Figgins is an outstanding dancer. Brandon Leffler, Austin Miller, Laurie Wells and Joey Calveri have beautiful voices.

The generation from 1960’s and 1970’s will enjoy the musical more because it the music they grew up with. For the younger generation you will like it too once you get into the grove.

Have a groovy night out and see this show.
