That's your opinion Here's Mine

Why You Beasting?

The play was performed at CSV Flamboyan located at 107 Suffolk Street, New York City. The show was part of the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival. It ran two hours fifteen minutes with one intermission.

Rudy Donavan (Shane Zeyler) has his first teaching job in a notorious difficult high school in the Bronx.

The school principal Dr. Rogelio Rubio (Andre Montgomerly) informs him the most important rules are to keep good attendance and grade records.

Rudy is sure he can make a difference in getting his students to learn. The students come in the class room with an attitude.

His fellow teacher Tom Wallace (Fletcher Shepley-McTaggart) gives him pointers on what to do and how to survive as a teacher there.

When another teacher Mr. Schwartz (Doug Trapp) flips out and hits a student. He is sent to the “rubber room”. This is a place where teachers who are being discipline are sent and get paid for doing nothing.

Rudy is so frustrated he wants out but he needs the job. He figures that he’ll try to be sent to the rubber room.

I’m not going to tell you about the students or how he tries to get to the rubber room. You will have to see the show yourself.

I was surprised and pleased at this outstanding show. The play warrants someplace on Broadway, if not at least near by.

The cast, story and show are well worth seeing.

“Why You Beasting?” will be playing at the “Fringe Encore Series” located at the Players Theatre at 115 MacDougal Street. The dates are 9/29, 10/1, 10/6, 10/11 and 10/15 2013.
